FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Answers to Your Fishing Charter Questions
01 What is included in the fishing charter?
All trips include an experienced professional guide, a fully equipped 22.4-foot Kingfisher boat, premium fishing equipment, Garmin electronics (sonar, GPS, VHF-AIS), as well as fish cleaning and packaging services for your catch.
02 What species of fish can we catch?
Depending on the season and conditions, you may target Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Atlantic Salmon, Steelhead Trout, Lake Trout, and Brown Trout.
03 Do I need an Ontario fishing licence?
Yes. A valid Ontario fishing licence is required for adults. Individuals aged 65 and over, as well as youth 18 years of age and under, are exempt. Ontario fishing licences can be purchased online by clicking here.
04 What should I bring for the trip?
We recommend bringing weather-appropriate clothing, a rain jacket, comfortable soft-soled footwear, sunglasses, sunscreen, your food and beverages, and a cooler left in your vehicle for transporting your catch home.
05 Is motion sickness common on Lake Ontario?
Everyone reacts differently. If you are prone to motion sickness or unsure how you will handle the lake conditions, we recommend preventive remedies such as Ginger Gravol or other anti-nausea products available at your local pharmacy.
06 Can we keep the fish we catch?
Yes, in accordance with Ontario fishing regulations and catch limits. We will clean and/or fillet your fish and package them properly to preserve freshness.
07 Do you provide food and beverages?
No. Guests must bring their own food and drinks. Glass bottles, alcohol, tobacco products, electronic cigarettes, and any illegal substances are strictly prohibited on board for safety and regulatory reasons.
08 Is the boat safe and fully equipped?
Absolutely. Our hard-top Kingfisher boat is designed for large bodies of water and is equipped with all required safety equipment, including approved flotation devices for every passenger.
09 Do you offer private, family, or customized charters?
Yes. We offer family packages, multi-trip options, and customized fishing experiences based on your needs and availability.
10 What happens in case of bad weather?
Safety is always our top priority. If weather conditions require the trip to be cancelled, we will contact you to reschedule your excursion for another available date.
11 Can I cancel because of an unfavorable weather forecast?
Weather conditions on Lake Ontario can change quickly. All guests must report to the marina on the morning of their trip, even if less favorable weather is forecast.
Your captain will communicate with you as needed regarding weather conditions and trip status.
12 Do you provide all required safety equipment?
Yes. All required safety equipment is provided on board, including approved flotation devices. Your guide also holds several certifications recognized by Transport Canada and the Canadian Red Cross.
13 What deposit is required to reserve a trip?
A $200 deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your fishing charter.
14 What happens if the guide cancels due to weather conditions?
If the guide must cancel the trip because of weather conditions, your deposit will be applied to a future excursion during the same season or the following season.
15 Is there a refund if we return to the marina early?
No refunds will be issued for early returns to the marina requested by guests before the scheduled end of the trip.
16 What happens if the trip is shortened because of weather conditions?
If the excursion must be shortened due to weather conditions, the trip cost may be adjusted based on the actual duration of the outing.
17 Can the trip end earlier if we reach the catch limit?
Yes. In accordance with regulations, the trip may return to the marina once the legal catch limit has been reached.
